Listen to this episode

This week on episode 224 of Beam Me Up we have two stories plus some music and some goodies from the blog!

First up, Barry sends us in a very funny parody song of Lady Ga Ga’s Poker Face called appropriately enough, Outer Space. I have the video on the blog because it is also funny, but I thought, playing the song would be just as entertaining.

Our First story is from a new comer to Beam Me Up, Jasmine Giacomo with her story Cyberia Rising which puts a serious twist on love conquering all. Our last story is part 3 of Peter Watt’s The Island.

The crew of the Eriophora desperately make a case with the robot AI “Chimp” to move the build of the gate but even Dix my not be convinced. New wrinkles begin to appear about the crew’s struggle though out the eons of the builds and surprises and major setback await for the only original crew member now awake.

From the blog, I review director Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind which has been released onto youTube. This is not the original release but the unedited and redubbed 2005 release. If you have never seen this anime classic from the director of such greats as Spirited Away, you owe it to yourself to catch this film. I also review the pilot for an new ABC show called No Ordinary Family. I got a chance to see a pre-release of the program that is due for release in late September concerning a family that gains super human abilities but are not all that comfortable with them and the final piece that I had time to talk about was a rather revolutionary fuel cell. Now there is nothing new about fuel cells, but this one from Youtricity uses an unusual fuel…….good ole h2 flow…..urine… or one of its main constituents urea. The article is fascinating, I was predictably juvenile.

Several items that I didn’t get a chance to talk about, but are certainly worth the trip over to the blog is my review of the anime series Requiem for the Darkness which played on SyFy for their Monday anime block. The plot arc is about a writer collecting 100 ghost stories, but winds up getting more than he bargained for. It is a series that would fit well into any anime collection that leaned towards the paranormal or horror. Check out my review. (I will try and get it into next week’s program hopefully).

CrystalWizard really came through with some fascinating articles and offers. A video trailer for an alternative history / time travel book “A New Birth of Freedom: The Visitor” the trailer is engaging which bodes well for the book! Also the post, The electric Universe which introduces us to the four forces of physics (the complete article is fascinating…press the link in the article!) That and some info on some cool Ts can’t beat it!

Enjoy the podcast, our new site and don’t forget to take a trip over to the blog
