Another hour that just flies by.
I play the conclusion of David Scholes Trath: The Final intervention, just to make sure that I get in them in this week.
Next from the blog and Kallimus: Trouble with the ISS coolant again, Ray Harryhousen has passed away at 92, Neil DeGrasse- Tyson has a web site that promotes his radio program Startalk and YouTube videos, there is a link on the wrfrbeameup.blogspot.com BMU blog. A company has developed a bulletin board that sends two messages, one to adults and one to children in a call to help reduce child abuse. Check out the blog for more information.
Earth Sky articles are next, the Milky-way, asteroids, temporary moons and Earth’s shadow are on tap.
I review the live action version of Death Note.
And finally, chapter 3 of No Great Magic by Fritz Leiber a novelette from the sixties.
That is it! I hop you enjoy this week’s offering of Beam Me Up.

This week I start off with a new track from John Anealio called Zombinista which has a decidedly 50s or 60s zombie flick.
Next I read Kallamis’ weekly run down of weekly happenings.
First it’s Curiosity’s return to operation. Next it is alien planets tidally locked planets orbiting red dwarf stars. In Sci-fi news the st-tng’s bridge is being rebuilt. TMNT are NOT aliens it would seem! Fantastic Four reboot may be problematic?
I do a follow up on space trash. This week we learn that the Fermi space telescope was almost destroyed by space junk!
David Scholes sends in a new story in the Trathh arc. “Trathh: The Final confrontations” Due to the run time, I was only able to play the first part.
In Earth_Sky news, Cassini has returned some exciting news on Titan. Jovian Trojan asteroids are in the news this week and maybe the discovery of the worlds oldest Dinosaur records.
IBM researchers have created a film that sets the records for the smallest stop motion film.
I review the anime movie Redline which is an over the top racing movie.
Hey, have you heard about Google’s Glass? The head mounted computer that Google has great hopes for.
NASA has extended their contract with Russian space services for a mind numbing…weeeeeeeeell it is half of what a stealth bomber cost…so maybe not numbing, it is just money that could have served a better purpose….like doing it ourselves..hummm?
And finally – in our flash from the past – chapter 2 of Fritz Leibers No Great Magic!
And that folks is the podcast. Yes, I know it is a bit longer than the radio program, but I wanted to add in several features, that I didn’t have time for on the radio.
Enjoy, and thanks for listening.

After the intro, I spend a moment doing my favorite subject “did you know?” I love to pull this on people all the time.
The first story I read this afternoon is the conclusion to Michael Blumlein’s “Know How Can Do” and I know you will apriciate the ending of this story as much as I did.
Earth-Sky is winding down, but they managed to have several articles this week. Excellent article on Galaxies caught in the act of accreting star material. The Dawn spacecraft continues to turn in good stuff as it continues to orbit the huge asteroid Vesta and finally the sun continues to build activity as evidenced by it’s continued sunspots and flares.
Of course you know I have to do Star Trek Trivia! And the stuff I find out is astounding! I am coming to believe that I must have been watching another show! lol
Before the last story, I spend some time bringing everyone up to speed on the Beam Me Up Blog at wrfr.beameup.blogspot.com. This week, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter took pictures of Curiosity when it landed but mostly what it took pics of was the heat shield, the skycrane and other items. Well the Nasa team is using the Hirise camera to take pictures of the parachute with surprising results! Next I have the list of this years Hugo Science Fiction Awards. Some good stuff there!
I finish with the most recent of the Trathh stories – Trathh – Intervention. This story is part of the Trathh series that David has been running on WRFR in Rockland Maine (WRFR.ORG) Next Month I will finish the series, but I honestly hope David will continue on with his great SF/F stories.

Yes, I am in the WRFR lp/fm studios this week! Not that this is of heart stopping importance other than it is episode 354! But anyway, I start off with a new segment, weekly rundown from Kallamis which covers some of the news that BMU may have covered, but often other material of interest.
Then we deal with one of the most twisted submissions I have had in some time. We can all blame this one on Xnewsman, and it is better to just hear it. Check it out at about 14:30 minutes into the broadcast.
From there I play the conclusion to Colonial Scout by Doug Turnbull.
Next I do a change up on Star Trek trivia. There hasn’t been much input, so I take the Star Trek trivia and basically turn it into….Did You Know or do you remember this type of information. I think it will prove to be much more interesting this way.
In light of the Russian meteor, Earth Sky revisits the Tunguska impact of a hundred years ago.
I do two reviews this week, the first being Pixar’s Brave, which I have to admit has made stunning improvements to their 3d rendering engine.
Kallamis celebrates 50 years of Dr. Who with some really good, historical high points. I give a brief summery, but it would behoove you to take a trip over to the wrfrbeameup.blogspot.com Beam Me Up blog for a more up to date rundown.
My last review of the afternoon is the indie film Robot and Frank. Frank played brilliantly by Frank Langella. The film is a low key story of a two story man (Frank) who is suffering from dementia and must either accept a robot care taker or hospitalization. Check out my review in about 40:00 into the broadcast.
Final story of the afternoon is a Trath tale, “The Story Continues” by David Scholes, another low key tale of the warrior Trath coming back to visit one of the remote aboriginal tribes.
And that winds up the weekend. Thanks for visiting and for listening.

music from the award winning anime feature film “The Girl Who
Lept Through Time” After which I review the film.
From there I have several peices from Earth Sky which are
facinating from asteroid impacts to Milky Way as a barred
galaxy!
Next it is two new questions in the Star Trek Trivia segment.
This week I again test your knowledge of Captain Kirk.
From there I head over to be Beam Me Up Blog
Nasa is thinking of giving the moon its’ own moon for
astronauts a place to work and practice on. Hey, how do you
know the Earth is Round huh? Check out this explaination of a
few ideas. Astronomers have found a “baby” planet. Russia is
still working on a Moon capable craft. The ISS is getting LEDs
not just for power saving but for crew health!
Then it is time for David Scholes’ story Equalization.
Enjoy!

Sorry I am behind here, but yesterday was just a day that once I did the radio program, all I wanted to do was crash.
But the editing is done, so lets see what this week has in store!
I open with Fit and the Consumption’s “Sweet Sister Starlight” Love this song!
From there, I do a couple of Star Trek trivia questions.
Then I review Abe Lincoln – Vampire Killer! Maybe not as bad as you thought or worse!
From the Blog, news from David Scholes, John Anealio has a free EP for listeners, have scientists uncovered the oldest dino to date!? 3D printers….and AR firearms…can they be controlled, and if so how? Zombies Among Us!!!! and is there POOP on the moon!
Finally Part one of Colin P. Davies excellent short story “Land of Fire & Ashes” It is so good to see Colin back on the program. If you are not familiar with his work or possibly forgotten, you are in for a treat of excellent story telling from one of the best!
Enjoy
C
This week was a slight strange happening if ever I had one. It is slightly short because I took out all the junk sections which ran

After the opener for episode 338, I play a cut that I haven’t played in like forever, Karma by Kokia. Very powerful music.
From there, I head right over to the beam Me Up blog.
From a study by the London Society for the promotion of Christian Knowledge. They published a paper in 1895 on a phenomenon called the Worthington Jet…be prepared is all I can say.
How about this shocker, Disney acquires all of Lucas Industries properties lock stock and barrel!
I review the animated straight to dvd “The New Avengers” After Ultron decimates the Avengers, their children are hidden away, so Ultron can not find and kill them. You will not believe who is their caretaker!
NASA is experimenting with a totally revolutionary system to bring returning re-entry capsules to a safe landing. A system to replace parachutes.
Kallamis post a review of the live action The Dark Nintendoverse – There Will Be A Brawl, which left me stunned that something this horrible could be made. You be the judge!
Finally the story I read this week is a continuation of Dave Scholes “Trathh” story arc. This week is Trath the Sequel, which, believe it or not, it better than the first installment! Dave is really getting into the swing with his ancient, near godlike characters from a long dead civilization. I know I am looking for more!
That’s episode 338 of Beam Me Up. Enjoy!

Episode 331 of Beam Me Up, for all intents, put itself together this week. I was sure that there was not enough
material to take us past 40 minutes. Ha! Well it manages to make it to the top of the hour no problem.
First off is a kickin piece of music, Science Fiction & Familen by Nephew, which sets the spirit of this week’s
program, which never seems to slow back down.
Next is the first story offering of the afternoon. David Scholes sends in a story in his Multiverse / Asgard universe, called ODENFORCE which deals with a very special history class at the beginning or maybe the end of time.
Of Odin and Thor a search through the ages. Music from Kevin Macleod
I go next to Star Trek Trivia with the answers to last week’s trivia questions and two new questions for this week.
I tap Earth Sky once again for a couple of very interesting science. First, What exactly IS Earth glow and the second article, evidence of a star consuming its’ planets has been observed.
From the Sept.17th 2012 issue of NewsWeek I find an article that deals with a cell’s “junk” DNA which now has been proved to be far more inportant to how a cell runs than was ever suspected before which may lead to a whole new class of medical treatment!
A couple of close encounters with a pair of Earth crossing asteroids that had JUST been discovered.
finally from the blog, I just had enough time to mention my review of Marvel’s Ultimate Avengers one and two direct to DVD movies.
The final story of the afternoon is part four of Edward McKeown’s “the Dive”. We now have an idea of what is coming as the enemy is met deep in the tunnel network, and what is coming is possibly the end of humanity itself.
